Seahorses, Octopuses, and StarFish.... oh my!

This is the quilt that I made before I left for school. Its very colorful on the front and mostly purple on the back. I wanted the fish to be the main focus because I just loved the pattern, so everything was centered around that fabric. I was going for a summertime look with all the colors and the adorable sea animals.This was my first quilt and hopefully not the last. Thanks to Amanda, I was able to have it done before I went to school. She helped me with the cutting, and she did all of the quilting at the end. Bless you Amanda :)! Now its hanging in my room of my apartment, and it sure livens things up!

Baby Legs!

This is a fun easy project and only a little sewing (for us beginners)

1-Find old pair of socks
2-cut off at ankle
3-zig zag stitch the raw edge at ankle (zig on fabric, zag off fabric) to make ruffle
4-done- Baby legs

I did add some little shabby flowers to the top with the scraps left over.

I love this idea I found on "This and That" of making throw pillows out of pretty napkins found on sale.

Karen's Baby Quilt

Karen finished her baby quilt - it turned out super cute! The fabrics are all at Beverly's if you want to snatch some up!

Quilts and Pillows

Okay, I have never sewed as much as I have in the last few weeks (getting a new couch can throw things all out of whack)! Here is my new living room quilt and pillows. The quilt is a jelly roll sampler quilt along from Moose on the Porch Quilts. The pillows are just a piece of quilted fabric.

I also made a new quilt for my family room. I found the free pattern online, but I can't remember where. The pillows come from the Moda Bakeshop. They have so many cute patterns.

Minky Throw

This is a minky throw made of flannel owl fabric on the top and brown minky on the bottom. I put a boarder of minky around the owl fabric. Minky is not my favorite to sew. Here are my tips:

• Prewash the flannel - it shrinks a ton.
• Lay minky on the bottom and pin flannel to the minky - really good - lots of pins.
• Use a walking foot and reduce the foot pressure and increase stitch length
• I have also read where people use basting spray to keep the fabrics from shifting.

Minky is the fabric of choice among my kids! I keep the scraps in a drawer and they play with them all the time.

Colonial Days

The 5th grade is having a "Colonial Day" at school and the children are to dress the part. We borrowed the dress (thanks Amanda) and we made the "mob cap" and apron. They were so easy. I've included the links because you never know when you might need to make some :)

Kelly's Reversible Hobo Tote

Kelly made this darling reversible hobo tote. Similar to our tote bags we made in Relief Society. (click here for those instructions) The bag is 1/2 yard of fabric and the lining is 1/2 yard of fabric. Sew the same way as the tote bag - only change the strap. Cut 9 to 10 inches WOF and fold in and press - top stitch. Then attach the handles to the sides and finish the same way as our original tote bag.
