Pink & Brown

We threw a shower for one of Ella's teachers. Her nursery was to be pink and brown. I've been collecting pink and brown fabrics so I just cut up squares and sewed them together. I put minky on the back and then decided to stipple it - which may have not been the best decision. Stippling minky is not the easiest - it turned out cute though. Then Ella made one of her patchy owls to match and our little craft class helped make the name blocks.

Ella's Room

For part of Ella's birthday we agreed to redecorate her room a little. She begged and begged for this fabric from Beverly's. It is black, turquoise, and purple - it looks just like her. So, one thing led to another and we ended up painting her room and changing most everything! It all started because she wanted her sewing machine in her room. I found a darling desk - I will post photos as soon as it's done.

I finally made the "Button Up Buttercup" quilt. I love how it turned out.

Ella had 2 Euro shams from her old bedding. I decided to sew new shams. I love how they turned out. I quilted them, and added the binding on last.
I found this darling queen quilt for the bed at Home Goods - purple and whit polka dots. I could not believe how well it went with everything - it is even stippled! I also found a cute set of Tommy Hilfigar sheets marked down on clearance. I added a little stripe to the edge to tie it in with everything.

Then I sewed a new valance for the window.

For her birthday I made her this black cat doll with matching dress.

Ella found this bird thing at Savers in Utah (thrift store). It was an ugly brown wood color with yucky fabric on the wings. For her birthday, I spruced it up and surprised her. She also got her very own pair of Gingher scissors! The bird thing is cute - when you put the scissors in, it makes his beak and head feathers! The feathers are pin cushions, and there are places to put your thread and a little drawer!

Also for Ella's birthday, I made her this cute thread catcher to go on her desk. I found the tutorial at: Sew Mama Sew. It took a little time to make it, but the tutorial is easy to follow. There are pockets for your scissors and seam ripper. The top part is a pin cusion and in the center is a strip of wool felt for your needles.

I added some fabric to this night stand we already had.

We still have a few projects to finish up. I will post more photos as we get them done

Covered Composition Books

I made these covered composition books for the children to give their teachers on the first day of school. The books turned out really cute - they have a bookmark and a little pocket for a pencil. It was hard to find cute apple fabric though!

Megan's Quilt

I helped my sister-in-law sew this quilt. I took it home and quilted it for her. It turned out really cute - it was rather large and a bit difficult to quilt.

Sewing Skirts

I sewed Sally this "Market Skirt". Click here for the tutorial. It sewed up really fast.
These are cute matching tiered skirts for Sally and Ella! I love the fabric.

Of course, I had to make matching headbands with flowers - my favorite part of the outfit!

Then I tried a new pattern with ruffles - I love it and have made 3 already. I appliqued the cupcake to match the fabric - it looked so cute on Sally!

End of Year Teacher Gifts

One of Ella's teachers is a boy - so I didn't know what to give him. He has a 2-yr old, so I thought I would whip up one of the "sally" dresses - turned out cute - he loved it!For Ella's other teacher, I made a cute quilted zippered bag. It was my first time quilting - I had several problems with it - but in the end it turned out darling.
Ella made some bottle cap pendants to go inside the purse - I love these.

Altered T-Shirt

I bought Toy Story T-Shirts for the kids to wear to the movie. Ella's and Sally's were just plain - so I fixed them up a little.
I sewed casings out of bias tape on the sides and gathered it with ribbon.
On Ella's, I cut off the sleeve and lettuce leafed it - then I put a little elastic gather going up.I did the same on Sally's.
Only added bows to the sleeves.
Super cute!
