End of Year Teacher Gifts
One of Ella's teachers is a boy - so I didn't know what to give him. He has a 2-yr old, so I thought I would whip up one of the "sally" dresses - turned out cute - he loved it!For Ella's other teacher, I made a cute quilted zippered bag. It was my first time quilting - I had several problems with it - but in the end it turned out darling.
Ella made some bottle cap pendants to go inside the purse - I love these.

Altered T-Shirt
I bought Toy Story T-Shirts for the kids to wear to the movie. Ella's and Sally's were just plain - so I fixed them up a little.
I sewed casings out of bias tape on the sides and gathered it with ribbon.
On Ella's, I cut off the sleeve and lettuce leafed it - then I put a little elastic gather going up.I did the same on Sally's.
Only added bows to the sleeves.
Super cute!

A Quilt for Miss Kim
For Ryan's 1st Grade Class we gave Miss Kim a quilt from all the children. Each child drew a flower and choose fabric. I appliqued the flowers in the center of the blocks. It turned out so cute and she really loved it!This is the back of the quilt - I used the Moda Freebird panel for the back - super cute!
We gave her the quilt today at school during the party.

Skirt and Embellished T-Shirt
I sewed this skirt for Ella and I wanted the shirt to match - I didn't want it to look like we just paired the skirt with a random t-shirt. So, Ella had this pink shirt - already gathered at the neck and sleeves - but the bottom was just straight - not the cutest with a ruffled skirt. So, I cut the hem off the shirt, then I "lettuce leafed" the edge. You set your machine on a tight zig zag and pull gently as you stitch along the raw edge and it makes this cute ruffle. Then, I added some 1/4 inch elastic at the waste so it gathered. I appliqued circles on the side from the skirt material. I am so excited at how cute it turned out! I must make another one!

Kitchen Curtains
I finally changed the curtains in my kitchen! It was quite the project - I spent my entire Saturday morning - from 9am to 2pm - sewing and installing them. I'm just glad they are done - not my favorite kind of project. For more photos, click on my blog. Each valance has 3 box pleats with covered buttons at each pleat. The whole thing is stapled to a wood frame. Now on to something fun!!

Quilt-As-You-Sew Table Runners
I think this is a great idea for a quick and easy table runner...especially for those strips of scrap fabric. I want to make some! Click here for the tutorial.
As requested, here is the adorable watermelon runner my sister made for me using this same technique.

Dressed up onsie
Steve brought me home some White onsies, so of course it looked like a blank canvas to me. I copied a cute shirt off of Etsy and here's what i came up with.
