Fabric Bird Wall Art

I saw this post on "Like the Rain" blog and I had to make it! I wanted it for Valentine's Day so I put all my cute red/pink fabrics to use. I love it - it makes me happy to look at it! Did you know I love fabric!!
I bought my frame at the GW (of course). Isn't it a lovely picture! I dismantled it then roughed up all the edges. I tied some picture hanging wire in it and then hung the birds.
I cut the birds out of a cereal box and glued the fabric.

Valentine's Picture Frame Re-Do

I found this frame at a thrift store for $4. I forgot to take a before photo (it was 11:30 pm when I was crafting). The frame was a green/gold color, the matte was also a green marble color and the picture inside was a watercolor Victorian bathroom.....90's style! I love making strip quilts so that's where the inspiration came from. I cut strips of 12x12 scrapbook paper, varying widths, and adhered them to the top of the matte. I added some letters and a few heart doilies (can't get enough of those) and then spray painted the frame. I love it! I looks great in my Valentine's inspired guest bathroom!

I just finished the shower curtain this morning - you can't tell but it is pink with pink owls! I love it with the little owl wall quilt.

Rainy Days

My Mom-In-Law went to a quilt retreat and made this quilt out of the Riley Blake Rainy Days and Mondays fabric- super cute. Only the quilt wasn't the cutest - it was just the triangle pattern making up a square you see in the picture. It didn't show off the darling umbrella fabric. She was a little disappointed in the whole thing so I took it and said I would fix it. I added the chunky boarders to the top and bottom and appliqued the umbrellas and words. Now we're fighting over whose quilt it really is!!!

Ella's Owls

I am so pleased with Ella's sewing. I gave her a pile of scraps from my Christmas projects and she went to town. She first pieced the fabric all wonky then cut the owl shape and sewed, and stuffed...she even makes the wings! We gave one to Gramma and one to Nana.

Christmas sewing projects

I have loved sewing this December! The fabrics are so yummy this year - I love all the pinks, reds, and greens!

I had to make a few owls to nestle in my tree.
Love how the shirts turned out.
I made this small quilt out of a charm pack as a gift for our book club gift exchange. The theme was "favorite things" and coordinating fabrics are my favorite things! My friend Megan was the recipient. I think she loved it.
I made a stocking for Olivia - it turned out so cute - now I am jealous and want to make me a new stocking since mine is made out of jewel tones from 1999!
I made this quick table topper for my mom-in-law.
This was my favorite quilt so far. Just a simple pattern of off set squares - but I love the size - it's huge! It was so hard to quilt on my sewing machine - it about killed me. But I love snuggling with it!

The back is a little funky - I had to order the tree flannel and they didn't send the right amount because they ran out - so then I was piecing everywhere to try and get it big enough!

Pink & Brown

We threw a shower for one of Ella's teachers. Her nursery was to be pink and brown. I've been collecting pink and brown fabrics so I just cut up squares and sewed them together. I put minky on the back and then decided to stipple it - which may have not been the best decision. Stippling minky is not the easiest - it turned out cute though. Then Ella made one of her patchy owls to match and our little craft class helped make the name blocks.

Ella's Room

For part of Ella's birthday we agreed to redecorate her room a little. She begged and begged for this fabric from Beverly's. It is black, turquoise, and purple - it looks just like her. So, one thing led to another and we ended up painting her room and changing most everything! It all started because she wanted her sewing machine in her room. I found a darling desk - I will post photos as soon as it's done.

I finally made the "Button Up Buttercup" quilt. I love how it turned out.

Ella had 2 Euro shams from her old bedding. I decided to sew new shams. I love how they turned out. I quilted them, and added the binding on last.
I found this darling queen quilt for the bed at Home Goods - purple and whit polka dots. I could not believe how well it went with everything - it is even stippled! I also found a cute set of Tommy Hilfigar sheets marked down on clearance. I added a little stripe to the edge to tie it in with everything.

Then I sewed a new valance for the window.

For her birthday I made her this black cat doll with matching dress.

Ella found this bird thing at Savers in Utah (thrift store). It was an ugly brown wood color with yucky fabric on the wings. For her birthday, I spruced it up and surprised her. She also got her very own pair of Gingher scissors! The bird thing is cute - when you put the scissors in, it makes his beak and head feathers! The feathers are pin cushions, and there are places to put your thread and a little drawer!

Also for Ella's birthday, I made her this cute thread catcher to go on her desk. I found the tutorial at: Sew Mama Sew. It took a little time to make it, but the tutorial is easy to follow. There are pockets for your scissors and seam ripper. The top part is a pin cusion and in the center is a strip of wool felt for your needles.

I added some fabric to this night stand we already had.

We still have a few projects to finish up. I will post more photos as we get them done
